The commandment of Tefillin is mentioned four times in the Torah, including in the Shema: “And you shall bind them for a sign upon your arm and they shall be ornaments between your eyes” (Deut 6:8)

For almost four thousand years Jews have been putting on Tefillin. Tefillin are two cubic black leather boxes with black straps attached that Jewish men wear on their head and their arm during weekday morning prayer.
